And yes, we made it.
The Middle Distance race of the Maximus-O-Meeting 2024, for which I had the honor of being the course-setter, has been proclaimed the “Course of the Year 2024” by WorldofO.com, the most prestigious site in the world of orienteering. 
This recognition is the icing on the cake 
of a journey that began back in 2019, when my inseparable partner Yulian Naydenov and I, along with other key collaborators, dared to dream big. We set out to create an event that would set the standard for international orienteering—meticulously choosing the best terrains in the region 
and putting all our care and love 
into the details to offer those who joined us an unforgettable experience.
It hasn’t been an easy road. We’ve faced our share of challenges 
, but we never wavered in our convictions. Instead, those obstacles only strengthened us and pushed us to aim even higher. 
This 5th edition of Maximus O Meeting in 2024 has been the culmination of everything we envisioned back in 2019. While my original commitment was for five years, I find it impossible to step away now. Maximus has become a part of who I am—a shared dream that has profoundly shaped my personal and professional journey. 
Receiving this award, which I honestly didn’t expect, is not just a recognition of this year’s race. It’s a tribute to years of hard work, resilience, and a dream that many doubted when it all began.
To the 11,660 orienteers who voted for us 
, to everyone who has supported us through this journey 
, and to all of you who choose Maximus each winter as part of your lives—thank you, from the depths of my heart.
